Dear Friends,
As we celebrate Christmas 2023, we thank each one of you for all your care for Hospicio de San Jose and all that this noble Institution upholds. By God’s grace, we have reached this 213th year of serving Him, “come strong winds and high waters” with the severe calamities that hit our country, both natural and human made, especially the constant flooding in Isla de Convalecencia where our Institution is located. God’s miracle is indeed, real every day, as we survived the recent Covid-19 outbreak and hurdled its effects, while we continually take care of our Children, Youth, Older Persons, People who are in Crisis Situations, Persons Living with different Disabilities, Families in the streets, the Sick, both physically and mentally and even psycho-emotionally, and those who are victims of various forms of abuse and the most vulnerable sectors in our society, like trafficked persons and many others. God’s grace abounds in the midst of all these realities, because “his love is everlasting.” Your kindness and generosity are expressions of God’s love and care for His people, coupled with the cooperation of our Sisters, Lay Mission Partners, Alumni, Families and other groups.
May Saint Louise de Marillac, the co-Foundress of the Little Company of the Daughters of Charity, whose 400th Anniversary of her Lumière experience we celebrate this year, 2023, continue to inspire us to fully trust in the workings of the Holy Spirit, and to follow closely the example of our Blessed Mother, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, especially in taking care of the poor and the needy.
As we welcome the New Year, 2024, we are filled with great hope that you will continue to support us in all our endeavors as we also respond generously and conscientiously to the call of the time, through the Church, while we constantly face the challenges in our society, giving special attention to family strengthening and community development, so that they, too, will also be of service to others. Your assurance of partnership, assistance and different forms of support really inspire us to give priority to the most urgent needs where we can be of great help.
May Jesus, who is the reason for celebrating every season of our lives, be our moving inspiration to unite all our efforts to make Hospicio de San Jose faithfully a Haven of Hope and motivate all our stakeholders to contribute to their growth and to the development of society as well as to take very good care of Mother Earth, our Common Home.
May Saint Joseph our dear Patron, continue to model to us in his deep trust in Divine Providence and his great humility and obedience to God’s will.
To Jesus with Mary,
Sister Martha Abejero Gamolo
Daughter of Charity
