Residential Programs
All residents have access to an array of services depending on their individual needs.
Under Social Services, Hospicio de San Jose’s social workers study each case and recommend the appropriate interventions to particular residents based on their assessed needs.
The institution’s Health Services promotes healthy habits and activities among residents to prevent illness. Early detection and treatment of diseases are also key to healthcare, followed by immediate rehabilitation to optimize the patients’ abilities and limit the effects of their illness. The Health Services team is composed of volunteer physicians, physiatrists and dentists, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and volunteer healthcare professionals.
Focusing on the integral development of Hospicio de San Jose’s residents, Homelife Services provide round-the-clock residential care, ensuring the optimum growth and development of children, dignified living for persons with special needs, fullness of life for older persons, and hope for people in crisis situations. The dormitories are designed specifically to serve the needs, health condition, age and gender of the residents, with complete staffing in accordance with the staff-client ratio prescribed by the DSWD.
Pastoral Care Services promote a welcoming atmosphere and nurture a faith- filled community where anyone can enjoy peace and harmony with God, nature and neighbors. The residents and personnel have access to an array of spiritual enrichment activities.
Tahan Center and Sanctuary is a transitory refuge for persons in crisis situations and abused women and children. They may stay in the center for a few days to a maximum of three months, depending on the assessed need upon their arrival. Until they have recovered from their crisis, the center provides them with basic needs – food, clothing and medical attention. Other services are facilitated by the Social Worker in coordination with the Case Management Team.
Through its Educational Services, Hospicio grants every child’s right to education by sending them to private and public schools, facilitating home-based learning activities, maintaining the Kindergarten school and the non-graded Special Education classes for persons with special needs.
Under its Psychological Services, Hospicio de San Jose’s designated psychologists administer psychological tests when needed. Once a week, a volunteer counselor conducts therapy sessions for children.
Socio-cultural/recreational Services create an environment of enrichment and entertainment for residents. Indoor games and assorted toys are available, along with musical instruments and audio-visual systems. Outdoor activities are also organized for them on a regular basis sponsored by volunteer groups and non-government organizations.
Vocational Rehabilitation Services are facilitated by occupational therapists in coordination with social workers. Children, older persons and residents with special needs are given the opportunity to enhance their development through handicrafts, culinary arts, gardening and visual art.
